I signed up for ZenFolio today. The Advance Plan was offered for $50 for the single month - with 24/7 live support - lower for the year. I chose the single month and will drop back to $5 for subsequent months. It certainly seems inexpensive. There are trade-offs.
I’m having trouble uploading single photos. How can that be? I had uploaded several over the past few days. Now, I can’t. Tech support suddenly feels less chatty. Have I been that big a pain in the ass? Perhaps I’m older than I think I am.
I’ve been working on a photo of a Bonsai plant taken last year at the Brooklyn Museum. I’m struggling with it. I remember the day well. The plant is in shadow, on a table with a beige stucco wall behind it. The light isn’t great and the slight under exposure doesn’t help. There is a soft bar of light on the wall from right to left, upper left. I love the form of the tree but I’m having trouble making this image pop in color.
The simple thing, I thought, going in, was to drop the background out and replace it. I seldom do that - though there are times. This time, I kept the background, made my usual adjustments and brought it into PS. After a few tweaks, I ran it through Impression. That left Impression’s texture overlay atop the subject. Mask away… It took TIME. I really like the background. The tree not so much. Back to the drawing board. I’ll show the completed image one day - maybe.
